LIBRARY TASK FORCE

Through the past year, the Library Task Force has tried to be good stewards of the “seed money” provided in 2006 by the Jim Dunn, Jr. family.  With their generous contribution, we were able to refurbish the library space from top to bottom in memory of former members Jim and Dorothy Dunn. Our work continues to be that of making the library user-friendly with additional programming for all ages.

In August we hosted a two week remedial reading camp using Christian Literacy Associates’ materials. Eight students in grades 1-4 were enrolled and received “one on one” instruction. Campers were encouraged to develop a love of reading, especially of God’s word. Everyone had fun with Bible stories of Paul, songs and crafts. Thanks to the parents, students and tutors who made reading camp a success.

Thanks also to the members of the congregation who continue to use their “Ministry Perks” card at the Family Christian Bookstores. Your purchase of bibles, CD’s and gifts has given us the necessary kick-back funds to purchase new books and DVD’s for children and adults. In 2007 one of our families donated the instructional Bible Software titled “Illumina”.   “Illumina” is a teaching/learning tool for students, Sunday School teachers and parents alike. Please make use of this special resource.

The members of the Library Task Force include:  Judie Brennan, Les Emerson, Claudia Musall, Denise Staub, Jan Patsch Taylor, Shelia Uriah and Sue Zoog. We all invite you to see what’s new in our library for 2008.
