OUTREACH & RENEWAL COMMITTEE
Outreach & Renewal continually looks for people
to make a commitment to Jesus Christ and to
become members of the church. The committee
focuses on increasing church attendance while
working with other committees to address needs
related to membership growth.
We also try to find ways to help our newer
members become an integral part of our church
family.
Highlights of 2007:
-
Personally contacted regular visitors with
welcome letters
-
Provide refreshments to new member classes
-
Welcomed new members with luncheons
-
Hosted Fellowship Hour for new members
-
Continued updating the church’s website
-
Cleaned the church’s membership rolls
-
Acted as the Hosting committee for the
Retreat Committee
-
Once again, we collected and sent goods to
troops in Iraq. We included goods they had
requested and added CDs of the church choir
and Daily Devotionals.
-
Introduced the Keeping in Touch (KIT)
program. The KIT program is designed to
keep new members interested in the church
and feeling welcome. Current members are
asked to select a new member or family that
has recently joined the church to become
their mentor.
Plans for 2008:
-
Improve our “Visitors’ Sunday” approach
-
Find improved methods to reach out to the
community
-
Plan for yearly retreat
-
Recruit new members to join the committee
-
Work with Vision Task Force Committee to
ensure the Master’s Plan is implemented and
we are doing everything we can to make sure
it is successful
Challenges:
-
We need someone on the committee who has
experience with marketing.
-
We also need people on the committee who are
open to new ideas, have “fresh” ideas and
are willing to take steps to accomplish
these objectives.
