WORSHIP AND MUSIC COMMITTEE

Purpose:  The Worship and Music Committee oversees all activities related to the worship services and music ministry of the church. 

Members: Bill Beale who stepped down, initially chaired the committee.  Beth Nixon took over in August as chair.  Other members include Pam Amos, Mary David, Paul Doty, Cindy Garrison, Dave Garrison and Karen Homrock.

The following people are responsible for their areas of service:

• Dennis Mumper and Kenton Klink are responsible for the music ministry, including Hi Choir, Chancel Choir and Bell Choir.
• Louellen Zaharko directs the Cherub Choir.
• Shirley Howarth and Bob Donaldson obtain and prepare the elements for communion.
• Bob Donaldson and Charles Balentine coordinate the ushers.
• Paul Doty coordinates the sound and PowerPoint crew.
• Tim Ford and Dave Garrison coordinate the “Welcome to Worship” Team.
• Brian Fairbank and Bonnie Burchesky began the year as Acolyte coordinators followed by Bonnie Burchesky, Diane Schoeler and Shari Bechtel.
• Cathy Stewart coordinates help in the Toddler Nursery during Sunday worship.

Accomplishments this year include:  

• Hosted Choir Fest on March 18, 2007
• Geneva College Choral Group performed the Sunday after Easter
• Music Appreciation Sunday on May 6, 2007
• Healing and Prayer Services – April 19 & September 20, 2007
• Clergy Appreciation
• Lenten and Advent devotionals
• Worked with the Visioning Task Force exploring a midweek service.
• Set up Communion Team schedules
• Arranged to have Communion sets in nurseries for Communion Sundays
• Arranged families and readings for lighting of Advent Wreath
• Purchased new green and white Parament set
