Don’t look…what is the mission statement of our church?
I
mean come on…we have crafted this awesome purpose statement that shares with
anyone who reads it our purpose as a church. But what does it really mean to
spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to our congregation, our community and our
world over with
care, compassion and Christian Love? What
does that mean for us? What does that mean for you? What does that mean for
our church?
Over the past couple of months I have really been spending some time studying and praying on what it really means to us as believers to walk in the purpose of God… to find our unique path where God’s purpose can be fulfilled in and through our lives. What is our path of purpose?
I truly believe that as a body of believers we are all called to one mutual purpose – to reflect the Glory and Image of God in all we do! But how do we do that? How do we reflect His Glory and Image in our everyday lives? It is hard enough to juggle the demands of life, let alone taking the time to stop and ask God for direction in order to ensure that His Glory and Image be reflected in and through us. It requires a divine pause – moments of discernment, surrender, prayer, and action are essential if we want to walk the path God has in mind for us!
I believe…we need to start believing the Truth. The truth that God believes in us! He believes in you! If He doesn’t then why did He choose you… In 1 Peter 2:9-10 it tells us that,
“…you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God's instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.” (The Message, emphasis mine) He chose us, you and me, to be His instruments on a unique path to fulfill His purpose in and through us! Did you ever think about that? That God chose you and believes in you to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ!
Friends…we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28, NKJV, emphasis mine) God chose us because He believes in us! He has called us to a unique path – our path of purpose – so His purpose and His promise can be fulfilled. We are God’s instruments, each one with a unique tone and sound, and when we come together with one purpose – His purpose to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ – imagine what our orchestra would sound like.
Brothers and Sisters in Christ…it is time! It is time to let His instruments reflect His Glory and Image, by wrapping our arms around our congregation, our community and our world over with care, compassion and Christian Love! I believe that our God chose us, because He believes in us!
Only He knows how awesome our future is and I can’t wait to see where He takes us!
God is blessing you…
