Think of a moment where you have been
overcome by the awe of God’s perfect work…

Over the last month, I have had several moments where I just have just been amazed at how God is working in and through the life of His Church!  And let’s be honest…February has been a tough month for many of us!  I don’t know about you, but I am ready for Spring!

Throughout the past few weeks, one of the devotional pieces that has been a rock of encouragement for me during these “wintry mix” days has been Psalm 37: 4-5. (NIV, emphasis mine)

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this…”

David encourages us in verse 4 to “Delight yourself in the Lord”, knowing  that if we are to delight in someone, we will experience great joy in his or her presence.  Delighting yourself in the Lord means drawing close to Him. Get to know Him better.  Dive into His Word and experience the joy of being in His presence.

Now…here comes David’s challenge to us all!  “Commit your way to the Lord…” entrusting everything to His control and guidance. Imagine what could happen if we would commit everything to the Lord.  Trusting in Him completely with no doubt and believe that He can and will care for us better than we ever dreamed.

Pause with me for a second and imagine God’s perfect work in our congregation, our community and our world if we would follow in David’s footsteps!

Remember…“you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God's instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. “   (1 Peter 2: 9-10, The Message)

I don’t know about you, but that adds some fuel to continue investing in the lives around me!

God is working…

 Doug
