PAM WALKER
Director Of Pastoral Care
It has been yet another amazing year as Director of Pastoral Care. I have visited with so many wonderful people. It is both an honor and privilege to serve you in this capacity.
A special “Thank you” is extended to the Lay Shepherds who have visited with our members and friends in 2007. These include: Lauretta Darby, Tim and Jodi Ford, Thelma and Dick Richardson, Doreen Griesbaum, Jack and Betty Heidler, Karen Jingleski, Jill Mackintosh, Ed Solomon, Vernie Dzura, Ron Boehmer, Gerry Melone, Anna Mae Moore, Brenda Falascino, Anna Simonelli, Doug Kearns and Kelly Day.
The Board of Deacons has accomplished many things during 2007. Some of the highlights of the year are: three blood drives for the Central Blood Bank which collected 44 units of blood, Operation Christmas Child which collected 267 shoe boxes for needy children all over the world; maintenance of the weekly flowers in our Sanctuary as well as purchasing and distributing more than 40 Easter Lilies and 40 poinsettias to our special friends; decorating the church for Christmas; 150 sympathy cards sent to church members and others in our community; 220 get well cards sent to members of our church; 44 Care Packages sent at Valentine’s day to our members in college and the military; home communion served to 100 special friends on Maundy Thursday and 64 special friends for World Communion Sunday by Reverend Hamilton and the Deacons; transportation provided to those needing a ride to church and doctor visits; maintenance of the First Aid boxes and tracts and last but not least is visitation. Thank you to all the Deacons who have made this year a success in terms of making some one’s life more pleasant by sharing the love of Christ.
A special “Thank you” is also extended to Chris Jackson, Judy Uram and Mary Lou Gulden. They are in charge of the funeral lunches at our church. Chris is responsible for the food, Judy is in charge of the volunteers that help and Mary Lou is the Deacon liaison. This is a wonderful service provided to our church members when they have lost a loved one. There were 8 funeral lunches during 2007.
Special thanks too for all the youth in our church that make cards and gifts for our special friends. They truly appreciate it.
In Christ,
Pam Walker
