Community

At Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, our mission is to be actively involved in our community. Jesus teaches us in the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40) to love our neighbors. In a caring and compassionate way, we pray each believer reaches out in love to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. This not only means to share the Gospel with individuals in our community, but to show them the love of Christ in an action-packed way!

One of the ways we serve our neighbors is hosting the Canonsburg-Houston Food Pantry. Over 120 families are served each month by this heartfelt mission to feeding hurting neighbors. Food Distribution occurs the third Saturday of each month from 9:00-Noon. Many members donate food and resources to this ministry and also volunteer on distribution day. If you are interested in serving, please contact the church office.

Many local missions are supported by the members of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church including Meals on Wheels, Family Promise, Pregnancy Resource Center, and more. Learn more about these missions here.

We are also host to many area groups including Boy & Girl Scouts, Canonsburg Library Association, Le Leche League, Mother’s and More, Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and so many more.

We are mindful of those who are sick or homebound - many of these people spending their days alone. Our visitation ministry sends our members into our community to share time with the sick, homebound and elderly bringing them a comforting word, sharing joyful memories of the past, or simply enjoying each other’s company.

By serving the people of our community and beyond, we are sharing God’s Love and bringing His light into a world that many times is filled with darkness, loneliness, and despair.
