We Believe

Along with Christians from the very beginning, we believe and celebrate the good news that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. Jesus says "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6 NEV)." Salvation and life are only in Christ Jesus.

We believe the Bible is the living Word of God from which we understand God — Father, Son and Holy Spirit as well as God's plan, desires and truth for His people. "All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16,17 NEV).

"Scripture alone, Faith alone, Grace alone, Christ alone and to the Glory of God alone" are historic beliefs of Protestant Reformed faith. These continually guide us in our understanding of our faith, ministry and life.

God has called His church to worship and serve Him with great joy. Jesus says, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:18-20 NEV)."

Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church seeks to humbly follow God and serve Him and His people in this community. We believe it's only possible to live and serve through the grace and strength found in Jesus Christ. Because God has blessed us, we believe we're called to bless others.
