“Praise be to his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.” - Psalm 72:19
When I made the walk across the bridge into the sanctuary before worship on July 21, I was caught by the audible buzz that filled the air! When I entered the sanctuary, it was as full as I’ve seen it since Easter. As we began, it was so great to hear the loud and boisterous singing and I nearly had to twist arms to get everyone back in their seats after we greeted each other!
In the midst of summer, with camp and vacations, baseball tournaments and other activities, worship and giving tend to take a bit of a dip. But the past 3 weeks have been great, as we’ve gathered together for one service and felt the vibrant energy as we’ve praised God as one community!
As good and necessary as it is to find silence and solitude, time alone with God to just breathe and be, it’s equally important to gather together. There’s something about seeing and hearing, about being surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses that energizes us to grow and serve! If you’ve been away or otherwise unavailable these past few weeks, I want to really encourage you to be in worship with us over these next couple weeks together. I know, beyond a doubt, you will be blessed, encouraged and empowered!
I hope you also take advantage of the opportunity to get to know some people you otherwise don’t - whether they attend a different service, or you just haven’t struck up a conversation before. A step beyond just being together, is knowing and being known by the people you are with. Worship is just one hour of your week, but when you are known by people, you can be supported, encouraged and strengthened the other 167 hours too!
We will return to our regular worship schedule on August 25. We will have 8:30am service in the sanctuary and 11:00am at North Strabane Park where we’ll have our annual picnic. This is another great time to get to know people and invite a friend to a slightly less intimidating church event. The food and fun will be phenomenal as we fill the earth with worship to God!
Welcoming people to Grow in Jesus,
