God's Purpose is Bigger

“The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.” - Psalm 33:5

Dear Friends, This past Sunday was literally full, as we welcomed in 13 New Members, heard from our Cherub Choir, learned about our Ministry Teams and had our Cub Scout 1305 Pack and their parents with us as well! It was fitting, as we talked about the Fifth Day of Creation, where God created the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and knelt down, giving them a blessing to be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth! We left under that same blessing, with that same invitation to bless the earth. And as I sit here writing today, I look out the window and see a world filled… with snow! As you’re reading this, I hope you survived the snow-pocalypse! While the roads got filled with snow, and eventually ice, it looks like they’ll be melted away in short order with rain - imagine that! But whether it’s rain or snow, that isn’t the point, and that isn’t ultimately what this world is meant to be filled with. What God intended to fill the world with, was his unfailing love, as the psalmist tells us. The method God chose to do that, was through creating, ultimately, you and I. Our mission, is to extend the blessings of God, to extend the love of God throughout the earth. On a day like today, I think it’s perfect to be reminded of this. You may have your life thrown for a loop - schools and small groups cancelled, delays on the roads and at work - we had family planning to visit, but the impending storm forced them to cancel. On a day like today, when plans need to be set aside, it’s important to remember that the widget you’re working on, the project your planning, the big to-do that’s been building for a while and now is delayed… isn’t the core mission of your life. No, it’s actually much simpler than that. On a day like today, it’s ever-so-important to be reminded that you’re hear to fill the earth with God’s love! Don’t sweat the stuff that today’s weather made you postpone. Don’t get bent out of shape because the snow has caused you delays. You are loved by the creator of the universe, and your mission continues, to extend that love far and wide. Love and blessings, as we continue Welcoming people to Grow in Jesus, Pastor Don
