Only Merry Because...
“But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” - Luke 2:19
I’ve got you for a brief moment, I know. You’ve opened your e-mail or clicked on the link as you scrolled through Facebook. Maybe it’s been a crazy morning filled with stuffed stocking and piles of wrapping paper, or possibly it’s been too quiet and you’re looking for a chance to be distracted. Maybe you’re gearing up for a barrage of family at the annual feast - or you’re coming down from a night where merry-making was harder than you imagined.
Wherever you are - the couch, the table, curled up in bed just waking up or just dozing off - there’s just one simple thing I’d like to tell you this day:
God loves you - and so do I!
Yes, Merry Christmas - but Christmas is only merry because of the Good News of God’s love in Jesus!
If you’re going to hold on to anything right now, if you’re going to think on anything right now, if you’re doing to treasure anything right now, may it be the unmistakable love of God!
Whether you’re knee-deep in wrapping paper and toddler toys, in a home filled with noise-noise-noise-noise, or everything is in it’s place and you’re experiencing a peaceful, silent night - may you receive this day, above all else, the love of God.
I’m grateful for this brief opportunity to remind you of the greatest gift of all.
May your Christmas Day be truly blessed!
