More Heart, Less Attack
“For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another.” 1 John 1:31
Each day at 1:45pm, my phone’s alarm goes off. It actually goes off several times each day 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm - reminders to take a moment and pray. But 1:45pm is a little different, it’s the moment I’m reminded of my wife, Bridgette. I take a second to lift her up in prayer and thank God for the gift she’s been as my wife for nearly 20 years!
My alarm is from the song “More Heart, Less Attack” by NeedtoBreathe. And if there’s anything we need today, this season, well - anytime, it’s more heart and less attack.
In our home, Bridgette is notorious for reminding us all that “You get more flies with honey.” While I’m often wondering “why do I want more flies?” her statement is so true. We get more if we’re kind instead of angry. We get more if we share love instead of hate. We get more if we shine light instead of darkness.
I want to encourage you today, with a few lines from the song
Be the light in the crack…
Slow to anger, quick to laugh…
Leave the past right where it’s at…
Quick to let go, slow to react…
Be the never turning back…
Be more heart and less attack
We all want a little more light, a little more laugh, a little more peace, a little more love in this world and each and every day, we are given the opportunity to be that.
Don’t wait for someone else, let’s go ahead and do it now!
