You Are Heard
“Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” - Jeremiah 29:12-13
Sunday’s sermon focused on that famous promise from the prophet Jeremiah, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” If you weren’t with us, I encourage you to jump on the website for the sermon or Facebook for the entire service!
But there’s something else that I want to share with you that comes from the two verses that follow this promise, and here goes:
There’s tons of things that can get us discouraged, getting into the mindset that our prayers are nothing more than empty words bouncing off the ceiling above us.
But that’s not true.
God promises us that when we call on God, God listens. God doesn’t ignore us, God isn’t locked behind a steel curtain, a concrete wall or a vow of silence. God is willing, waiting, even begging us to call on Him, in our biggest triumphs and in our darkest moments.
We might not always feel it, but our feelings are fickle and God’s promises are true.
If anything, we need to dig in and pour our our hearts to God. Holding back only keeps us from truly sensing God’s presence and truly experiencing all God has for us.
You may not have all the right words, you may be tentative and unsure of yourself at first, but the more you open yourself up to God, the more you talk to God from your heart, the more you earnestly share, the more you will recognize God’s presence and receive the gifts God’s just waiting to pour out on you!
